Beautiful Indian actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is pregnant with her first child. Her father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan happily announced it on micro-blogging site Twitter on Tuesday.
“News news news!! I am going to become a grandfather. Aishwarya expecting. So happy and thrilled,” Mr Bachchan tweeted on Tuesday night.
The actor later wrote that he had received “2,843 tweets in the first half hour” and that he was “overwhelmed with wishes and blessings”.
The 37-year-old actress and former Miss World (1994) is married to bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan in 2007. She had been featured in Bollywood as well as Hollywood movies. Currently she is doing only one film “Heroine” by Madhur Bhandarkar which was announced at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
Although people from throughout world are congratulating the couple but director Bhandarkar is not happy with this news.
Bhandarkar twitted, “Today I am sitting alone in my office after the plugs being pulled off from my film Heroine… My conscience stands clear as I have been honest to my craft irrespective of the repercussions…. No which way would I have trampled my dream project on which I have given my sweat and blood for almost 1 1/2 years…. This was going to be the most ambitious project of my career… My inherent belief is that motherhood is pious and I am humbled by it. I must also add that I salute every woman who chooses to work in this extremely delicate state. To put things in perspective, I am a man who is surrounded by women in my family. My wife, my sister, my mother and my daughter…. These are the people that make my life! In fact my wife when she was carrying my daughter worked through her pregnancy….but in the same breath I would like to say that I will never knowingly put a woman in harm’s way knowing the delicate nature of her health.”
This news spread like fire after Madhur Bhandarkar lashing out at Aishwarya saying that she ‘hid the truth’ about her pregnancy. The Bachchan family is upset with rumours of a loss of Rs. 18 crore because of pregnancy.
“Whatever has happened between Aishwarya, Madhur (Bhandarkar, co-producer) and UTV (co-producer) is between them. I know that the rumours going around are not true. I hope that the truth comes out soon,” said actor Amitabh Bachchan on his way back from Ajmer Dargah on Monday.
According to Bachchan, all rumours of a huge monetary loss (which was also hinted at by Madhur) are false. “Everybody knew that Aishwarya was married when she signed the film. So you mean to say that actors can’t get married or have children? I don’t think this can be a part of any contract that you cannot get married or have children if you working in a project,” adds Bachchan.
Bachchan is upset with the banner, UTV too. “I had completed Shoe Bite long back. I had also invested my time into it and completed the film which was based on Johnny Walker. I have never indulged in this kind of talk even though the film has not been released till now and I have no word about when it will be released,” says Bachchan.
Till now Aishwarya is not responded to the Madhur’s allegation.
